In Sholem Asch's On the Road to Zion, the playwright depicts many different visions for Jewish life in Poland at the turn of the twentieth century. His characters include the traditionally religious, capitalists, Germanophiles, a Zionist, a Socialist democrat, a Yiddishist, a Polish nationalist and a young artist in search of himself. Join our panel of scholars and artists to discuss the various ideologies presented in Asch's symbolist drama and how they influenced contemporary Jewish life. Moderated by Professor Avi Patt, the panel also includes Jewish studies scholar Dr. Daniel Stein Kokin as well as actor Rachel Botchan (American Academy of Dramatic Arts) and translator Caraid O'Brien.
